heeey mamas! I've been using Nutrafol's Postpartum hair supplements for the past 2+ months. I know it takes time and consistency to see results but wanted to share my impressions so far!

If you haven't heard of them, Nutrafol is an award-winning daily hair growth supplement that helps reduce hair shedding, support thicker hair volume, and faster growing, longer hair. Their postpartum system is especially formulated for women in the first year after giving birth or breastfeeding.🙌🏼

I heard about postpartum hair shedding and since I already have thinning hair, I wanted to get ahead of it. I plan to keep taking my supplements for a full year but even after 2 months, I've already noticed less shedding and improvement along my hairline. I'll keep you posted on results in a few months!

If anyone else is interested in trying them out I’m very excited to share my discount code that will get you $50 off of your first three month supply of Nutrafol! 👏🏼 see the link in my stories!

CBD in Skincare: What Should I Know?

The CBD Beauty Craze

CBD is latest ingredient disrupting the beauty industry. The CBD skincare market is projected to bring in $959 million in sales by 2024, according a new report by Prohibition Partners. This trendy ingredient is showing up everywhere in the beauty and wellness scene. With all the aggressive marketing, buzz, and health claims about CBD, what are the actual benefits of this skincare ingredient? And what should we know as a consumer?

Interview with Herbalist Julie Taylor

To learn more about CBD, I interviewed Julie Mica Taylor, the founder of Mica (mee-ka) Organics. With a love for pure botanicals, Julie’s collection includes organic skincare, aromatherapy, and wellness products. Not only does she have a unique background in luxury skincare and cosmetics, but she also has a degree in medical anthropology (the study of ancient healing traditions and practices from around the world).

Also – if you’re interested in some beginner-friendly CBD products, check out my CBD guide here!

How and why DID you became interested in CBD?

Julie: As an herbalist, I am always exploring botanical ingredients that have positive health and skin benefits. Over a year ago, I was introduced to a CBD company that sources organically grown hemp from the U.S. and I consulted for them by formulating skincare products. Working first hand with CBD has been eye opening for someone like me who loves harnessing the power of botanicals into skincare products and actually seeing incredible results.

Can you share some of the benefits of CBD from your own personal experience?

Julie: First I made a muscle salve with CBD because one of CBD’s many benefits is anti-inflammation. Little did I know that this muscle salve would become my savior because a few months into working with CBD I was rear-ended and had severe neck and back pain. I’ve always been told that I have a high pain tolerance especially since I gave natural birth to a nine pound baby but this accident left me in so much pain. Being the natural/holistic person that I am, I didn’t take the pain killer prescribed by the doctor. I thought I’d be just fine. But that night after the hospital visit, I was cursing in regret because the pain got worse. And then I remembered that I had made a fresh batch of CBD muscle salve so I liberally applied it on my neck and back. That night I was able to sleep which anyone who has ever been in physical pain knows that not being able to sleep due to pain is the worst. The CBD had relaxed my muscles and relaxed my tense body. Mind you there’s no THC in my CBD products so I wasn’t “high” just experiencing the pure power of CBD.

CBD contains vitamins A, D and E in addition to essential fatty acids. It’s also packed with antioxidants. I added CBD to my face oil and within the first couple of applications, I noticed my skin was smoother and had a reduction in pore size. I’ve found that combining CBD with other nourishing oils is the ultimate antioxidant powerhouse.

What are common false claims that you hear about CBD?

Julie: If you look up CBD on the internet, you’ll find many medical claims from curing of certain diseases to CBD being the new fountain of youth. Many of these claims are not backed by science. The reality is CBD is fairly new and it’s going to take some time to short out the false and illegal claims. It is important for consumers to have access to evidence based studies that are backed by science. Studies are still being conducted so as with anything you can’t believe everything you see and hear. CBD is one of those things you have to try yourself.

What should I know about CBD as a consumer?

Julie: It is so important to know your sources not just when it comes to CBD but with all herbs and things you may put on your skin or ingest. Purity and potency is the number one concern for CBD as a wide range in quality are hitting the market. Recently, the FDA has issued many warning letters to CBD companies after finding little to no CBD in their products in addition to medical and health claims. There are a number of unethical companies that have emerged to capitalize on the CBD boom by making outlandish claims and exploiting consumer’s ignorance for capital gains. You want to make sure that the CBD you’re getting was tested for things like mold and pesticides. Certified organic or grown organically are very crucial. CBD prices are already at a premium so you mind as well make sure you’re getting the best quality.

Lastly, tell us more about your CBD collection!

Julie: Yes! I am so excited about our new Mica Organics CBD line. As I stated earlier, I have close relationships with the CBD extraction facility and know exactly where the CBD comes from, how it was grown and harvested to the chemist who extracted the CBD. I only want the best for my products and feel very confident in extending the new CBD line to my customers who have grown to trust and appreciate the quality of Mica Organics products.

I created a range of CBD products including a muscle salve, bath soak, and face oil. This way anyone can try CBD in the way they feel most comfortable. It’s an exciting time for our company and we are thrilled to be a part of our customer’s self care routine.

Check out the new CBD line on the Mica Organic’s website!

Julie sounds like an inspirational lady. No way would I be giving birth to a giant baby without meds lmao. Glad to see she’s out her accident to positive use to create a magical brand. Love the interview, Clara ❤️✨
