What’s different about Indian Beauty?
Many cultures have their own beauty rituals and self-care traditions that are passed down by generations. Some of these beauty rituals have gained immense popularity worldwide, like Korean beauty and their 10-step skincare routine. The beauty ritual I’ve whole-heartedly embraced and am excited to talk about is Ayurvedic-inspired Indian beauty!
Michelle Ranavat, the founder of Ranavat Botanics shared that there’s an elevated level of self-care in India and a devotion to ritualistic daily practices. Indian beauty dates back thousands of years, when Ayurveda was first practiced. Ayurveda is a form of holistic medicine and way in life that’s focused on balancing your body and mind.

Indian beauty is very ingredient-driven, as there’s a great focus on the potency, purity, and daily efficacy of herbs and botanicals.
But it’s not just about using healing ingredients, it’s also about creating beauty and self-care rituals and immersing yourself in those moments. That mindful intention behind what you’re applying, rinsing, and massaging is at the heart of an Ayurvedic-inspired skincare ritual.

What I’m using: Luminous Ceremony Cream Cleanser ($42)
Why I love it: This cleanser has a creamy, silky soft, and light texture. When massaged into the skin, it effectively and gently removes makeup and oil while leaving my skin feeling hydrated after. I think it’s a great option if you have dry, combination, or aging skin. It’s ingredient list is free of fragrance, but there’s a natural rose scent from the rose essential oil, which I find relaxing.
