Pressed floral cards are a fun and thoughtful way to send some preserved blooms and love to someone special! I love collecting wildflowers and using pieces from bouquets to create framed floral art and cards. Instead of buying an Hallmark card, trying making something one-of-a-kind and personal instead!
New to pressing? Don’t worry – I got you! Keep reading for my tips and for some step-by-step instructions.
tips
- Avoid using flowers with fleshy stems and leaves (they don’t press well)
- Avoid using flowers with very thin petals (they fall off easily)
- Don’t press already wilted flowers (the more fresh, the better)
MATERIALS NEEDED
- Flowers, foliage, or botanicals
- Books
- Tissue, newspaper, facial tissue, or sheets of nonglossy paper
- Mod Podge Glue
- Brush

Step 1: PRESS FLORALS
- Position the florals and foliage face down and sandwich them between layers of an absorbent material (e.g. tissue paper, newspaper, etc.)
- Stack the sandwiched pieces and tissue inside a heavy book
- Stack other heavy books on top to add weight
- Let dry for 2 weeks
Step 2: CREATE CARDS
- Take a brush to apply mod podge glue to back of dried flowers
- Place on blank cards and let dry!Optional: apply a full layer of glue over entire surface of card for extra support
- Send to a loved one or save for a special occasion!
