Today I bring you an updated roundup of my spring skincare favorites for dewy, fresh skin! From cleanser and serums, to masks and moisturizer, here are my picks for a radiant, glowy complexion!
I do want to point out that it’s not one specific product that will magically give you beautiful skin. It’s a combination of using purposeful products, being consistent, being gentle, and also taking care of yourself from the inside out.
use an oil-based cleanser
Oil cleansers are great for oily, aging, and acne-prone skin. It doesn’t strip your skin (which can cause your skin to overcompensate and produce extra sebum and oil). It also instantly leaves your skin looking clean, hydrated, and dewy (but not oily).
I’m loving my Wabi-Sabi Botanical’s oil cleanser ($48). See my full review of this superstar brand and why i’m loving it here (there’s a promo code too). Another great one is the cleansing oil from Valentia Skincare ($27), and Biossance ($30).
TONE with a facial mist
There are tons of toners on the market. I’m drawn to the spray-bottle versions that provide a super fine mist and full coverage. Good packaging and a nice plant-based formula feels pampering and helps restore the skin’s natural pH level.
I’m loving my toning facial mist from Wabi Sabi Botanicals (full review here). Another clean beauty facial mist I love is Wild Magic Beauty’s Earth Mist Facial Toner. This beautiful, plant-powered skincare brand is inspired by traditional Eastern medicine and is made with clean and effective ingredients! Pictured below is the travel-size version.
use antioxidant-packed serums
Serums packed with antioxidants are effective when it comes to maintaining a healthy complexion. They help improve dull-looking skin, protect the skin from photo-aging/UV damage, and help brighten your complexion. Serums can be pricy, since they’re formulated with highly concentrated active ingredients. You only need 2-3 drops so it should last you months.
Some Options:
Wabi-Sabi Botanicals Age Gracefully – Ageless Face Serum ($34 – Use GLEANANDGLOW for 15% off). It’s a reparative nighttime facial oil to help plump and repair skin overnight. It’s a solution for fine lines, premature aging skin, sun damage, and uneven skin tone. It instantly makes my skin look hydrated, glowy, and bright!
Wabi-Sabi Botanicals – Blemish Correct ($30 – Use GLEANANDGLOW for 15% off). A soothing serum and spot treatment for acne-prone and sensitive skin. Made with skin clearing ingredients, this enriching serum makes my skin look bright and clear.
BYROE’s Bell Pepper Serum ($110). It’s super hydrating and I’ve noticed a brighter, healthy glow since I started incorporating this regularly into my regime. It’s formulated with antioxidant-rich ingredients including Bell Pepper and Ascorbic Acid.
Apply a facial oil
If you’re not getting the glowy, hydrated, and healthy complexion you’re looking for from just serums and moisturizers, a face oil might be the skincare ingredient you need to amp up your routine. Facial oil is suitable for ALL skin types!
I dedicated a blog post to the benefits of facial oils, which includes a full review of one of my favorites, La Coess REVITALISÉ Face Oil.
I also recently got my hands on a travel-size version of Wild Magic Beauty’s Moon Light – Goji Berry + Sea Buckthorn Facial Oil and I think its beautiful as well! Crafted with superfruit seed oils, antioxidants, vitamins, and fatty acids, this facial oil leaves my skin looking hydrated and radiant.
If you have oily, combination, or acne-prone skin, the Mica Organic’s Sandalwood Oil with CBD 150 MG is a great option! Sandalwood is effective for treating blemishes, jojoba oil helps balance oil production, and CBD is rich with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory. It absorbs well, it’s non-greasy, and my skin looks instantly hydrated and glowy after.
moisturizer
Although you might not need a moisturizer after a facial oil, I still layer it on top because I love the combination of both. A few of my favorite moisturizers:
Alpyn Beauty Wildcrafted Actives Melt Moisturizer ($60), Bear Necessities Co – Rejuvinating Moisturizer with CBD ($64), and Berlin Skin’s Sandalwood Cream ($64). Berlin Skin is my personal favorite, but someone I know with sensitive skin reacted to it, so it’s not for everyone.
mask 1-2x /week
Something I’ve learned the hard way is to not overdo it. So don’t get carried away with masking and exfoliating too frequently (while also using other potent treatments). I’m learning that less is more when it comes to skincare.
I do, however, enjoy a nice mask. I love the Turmeric + Witch Hazel Clay Mask from this little indie clean beauty brand, Kara Maree! I usually don’t like clay masks, as they can be a bit drying. But this mask is formulated for all skin types, including those prone to irritation. Using Dead Sea Clay, turmeric, tea tree oil, lavender oil, and which hazel, this 15 minute mask leaves my skin looking glowy, hydrated, and healthy after! $39 (use Clara15 for 15% off!)
