My first experience with sunless tanner was in middle school. I got one of those small samples that come in a magazine and it turned my skin tangerine orange. Not cute. 20 years later, I’m finally giving sunless tanner a second chance! Fortunately there are better formulas now that are gentle, soothing, & hydrating while also giving you a sun-kissed glow!

Self-Tanner Mousse – MY TOP PICK!
It made me look like I just got back from vacationing in Cabo. It was a medium/dark tan and still looked natural! I’m also impressed that the formula is a mousse – it feels so gentle, dries quickly, and has a silky texture! The scent is more subtle, compared to other self-tanners I’ve tried. For $30, this clean beauty tanner is a great deal!
Self-Tanner (Lotion)
I love how smooth and hydrating this formula is! Made with ingredients like shea butter, coconut oil, aloe vera, this sunless tanner goes on smoothly and feelings nourishing. Doesn’t stain my clothes, looks natural, and it’s streak-free. Turns my pasty white legs to a natural-looking medium tan. Last 4-6 days and I start to see the tan working within 6-8 hours.
I apply it with their mitt to help smooth the product evenly over my skin. The mitt is a game changer – get one! My only minor callout is that it does have a noticeable coconut scent; it’s not too strong, but I try to apply it on days when I’m not seeing other people.
Self-Tanner Face
I was scared to use this on my face! But was relieved to find that the glow is subtle and incredibly natural looking. Feels hydrating & moisturizing, doesn’t streak, and has a very light coconut scent. Super pleased wit this! Love that it’s also buildable. Lasts 4-6 days and starts showing within 6-8 hours.

Sunless Tanner – Eco Tan

Hempitan Body Tan Water: Uses hemp seed oil to hydrate the skin, dries instantly, and gives me a natural and bronzy tan. It’s buildable so the more you apply, the darker you can go! Lasts 7-10 days and continues to build in the first 24 hours. I like that its a liquid spray – you directly spray it on your skin and blend it with your hands or tanning mitt (I highly recommend a tanning mitt for even application). The scent is subtle and tolerable too! Definitely an amazing option for someone looking for a darker tan.
