After I had my baby, I was like, “woah, I need to deal with this hyperpigmentation situation.” With all the hormonal changes (and big life changes), so much was happening with my skin. I considered treating myself to a laser treatment or BBL but I’m on a budget (and med spa treatments are not cheap)! Instead, I found a few hero products (one of them is only $11!) that have already made a HUGE difference!
Two Products that Treated My Hyperpigmentation
A new mama friend told me about The Ordinary Azelaic Acid Suspension 10% and now its a main part of my routine. Azelaic Acid is such an underrated ingredient and jack-of-all-trades! It’s gentle but powerful and fights acne, redness, hyperpigmentation, rosacea, + more! It decreases pigmentation because it inhibits an enzyme that leads to dark patches of skin. Even after a few weeks I started noticing a difference! Oh, and it can be paired with AHAs, BHAs, or retinoids. I’ve been using it for 5+ months and highly recommend (its less than $12!).
Speaking of AHAs, I’m also a huge fan of mandelic acid. It’s especially great for acne-prone skin but it’s also a very powerful ingredient for fighting hyperpigmentation and signs of aging. I’m using CLEARSTEM Skincare CLEARITY, which is formulated with mandelic acid, vitamin C, and turmeric to brighten the skin, unclog pores, and stimulate new collagen production. I use it a few nights a week and notice brighter and smoother skin the next morning. I’m a huge fan of the brand (check out my other reviews). If you’d like to try CLEARSTEM out, use code CLARA for 15% off!
BEFORE: MY SKIN 5 MONTHS AGO
AFTER: MY SKIN TODAY
It’s not perfect, but you can definitely see a huge difference with just consistent use of effective skincare! My other skincare staples include a facial oil, daily sunscreen, and recently started incorporating a retinol.
